Health Hub program launches in San Rafael

More about us

A bi-lingual, multi-cultural “Health Hub” has been launched in San Rafael to provide free nutritious food, nutrition education, health screening and group exercise activities to Marin’s low income residents.

The family-oriented weekly event, which is free and open to the public, will be held from 3 pm to 6 pm every Wednesday at Marin Community Clinics’ San Rafael location at 3110 Kerner Blvd.

The program is sponsored by LIFT-Levántate and the San Francisco/Marin Food Bank with donated food from Whole Foods, Marin Organic and ExtraFood.

“When physicians see patients at our clinics, they make certain they cover the importance of nutrition, exercise, and other health prevention activities,” said Linda Tavaszi, MCC CEO. ”But, they often have no place to refer these individuals for these services. The Health Hub fills that void.”

Marin’s first Health Hub began at MCC’s Novato Clinic. The Novato program is held from 3 pm to 6 pm every Thursday.

Our Greenbrae Clinic has moved to LARKSPUR!

Exciting news!  Our Greenbrae Clinic, located at Marin General Hospital, has moved to a new location.

The new clinic – now called “the Larkspur Clinic,” opened on Wednesday, July 16, 2014. It is located at 5 Bon Air Rd., Bldg. D, Suite 117 in the town of Larkspur. Download a printable map here.

Our new, modern clinic is just a few blocks away from the Greenbrae Clinic and even closer to public transportation. Plus, no more hill to climb!

Please read the Marin Independent Journal report in the July 10th newspaper: Clinic Relocating to Larkspur

Clinic Move FAQs:

Has the telephone number changed?
No, it is still 415-448-1500.

What if I have an appointment in Greenbrae?
If you have an appointment on July 16 or after that date, come to the new Larkspur Clinic instead, because Greenbrae will be closed.

How do I get to the Larkspur clinic on public transportation?
You can use bus routes 18 and 22 which stop right across the street from the Larkspur clinic. Or you can use the same bus line as you have when you came to Greenbrae, and get off at the Marin General Hospital main entrance stop – then walk a few blocks to the Larkspur clinic. We will have signs posted.

Summer Solstice Celebration - 2014

Marin Community Clinics and our wonderful supporters celebrated the start of Summer and a healthy Marin with a wonderful evening of Joie de Vivre on Wednesday, June 25th, 2014, at the Marin Art and Garden Center in Ross. We hope you enjoy the PHOTOS.

It was a perfect evening for celebrating the achievements of exceptional Marinites who are dedicated to improving the lives of Marin’s low-income and uninsured residents. Awards were made to the 2014 Community Health Champions:
Judie Shaw, the “Book Lady” of Novato, and Dr. Albert Varner, founder of Marin Gastroenterology; and our two youth honorees, Keila Itzun and Jocelyn Lezama. READ MORE about our Honorees.

Health Care Reform has arrived!

Since January 2014, most people are required to have health insurance. That brings good news – including the fact that many people who were previously denied Medi-Cal coverage may now be eligible. Medi-Cal has expanded the maximum income level making it easier for individuals to qualify.

Marin Community Clinics is now accepting Health Net, Anthem Blue Cross, and Blue Shield of California insurance plans, as well as Medi-Cal and Medicare.

Medi-Cal: You may enroll in Medi-Cal anytime. Our enrollment counselors can help you determine if you are eligible, and assist you with your application.

Covered CA:  If you don’t qualify for Medi-Cal, you may be able to buy insurance through Covered California, the insurance marketplace. Depending on your income, you may qualify for premium assistance to reduce the cost of your insurance.  Although open enrollment for Covered California ended March 31, 2014, if you have a Qualifying Life Event, such as marriage, the birth of a baby, or loss of coverage through your job, you may still enroll through Covered CA within 60 days of that event. Our enrollment counselors can answer your questions and assist you with your application.

Marin Community Clinics has trained Enrollment Counselors still available to help you make informed decisions about your health coverage, and report changes.
